Gin & Jazz

with Purnell Steen & The Five Points Ambassadors

Purnell Steen & The Five Points Ambassadors will close out our Summer Gin & Jazz Series on Thursday, August 26th from 7:30pm – 9:30pm in The Rainbow Alley outside of Tracks. Purnell Steen (first cousin to Charles Burrell, Dianne Reeves) and co-conceptualizer of the Gin & Jazz Series, has one mission and that is to preserve the “Sounds of Five Points.” This is one show you really won’t want to miss!
About Gin & Jazz:
Gin & Jazz is a community-driven Jazz Series that champions and celebrates artists who embody and carry forth the Five Points jazz legacy in modern-day Mile High. The Series centers around supporting local community musicians and ensembles who embody and champion the historic “Harlem of the West,” culture from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. We are proud to team up with Tracks and Ageof.Us to help us shed light on the city’s historic Jazz legacy and continue this series through the summer!
We are so grateful to team up with Hendrick’s Gin this summer to help us support our artists! Check out our Artist Appreciation Menu with some specialty cocktails when you join us at the shows. In addition, to live music and drinks, we’ve also compiled a Five Points Resources page that is accessible to attendees via QR code at the shows. This page will help us share the storied past of the Five Points neighborhood with integrated resources, materials, and articles. We will also be donating 15% of our proceeds from each show to a community organization/nonprofit that aligns with the values and mission of this series. For August, we’re teaming up with the Denver Sister Cities International. We’ll be raising money to send Gin & Jazz Co-Conceptualizer, Purnell Steen, to Brest, France as part of the Five Points Ambassadors program next fall!
Tickets are $20 per show and there is a two-drink minimum.
Show: 7:30pm – 9:30pm
Last Call: 2am
